A Russian military ship conducted live-fire training exercises approximately 40 nautical miles (about 74 km) off the coast of Great Britain. The ship, monitored by the Royal Navy, carried out artillery exercises south of Plymouth on Monday.
The military ship «Nestrashimy» escorted oil tankers from the so-called «shadow fleet» through the English Channel. This marks the second time in recent weeks that a Russian military ship has escorted such a tanker through these waters.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense stated: “A Russian naval ship, monitored by the Royal Navy, conducted live-fire training exercises in international waters approximately 40 nautical miles (about 74 km) south of Plymouth yesterday.”
“The Royal Navy continuously monitored these exercises, is closely observing the ship’s actions, and is prepared to defend the national security of Great Britain,” the spokesperson added.
Before the exercises began, the Russian ship informed HMS Tyne of its intention to conduct artillery exercises and requested that the Royal Navy vessel move to a safer distance. HMS Tyne complied with this request. The exercises lasted 30 minutes.
