Iran’s military stated on Friday, July 24, that it had carried out drone strikes on several American military facilities and bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait in response to recent US attacks against the Islamic Republic.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed to have attacked a data processing center in Bahrain, which state media reported belongs to Amazon. However, neither the American tech company nor Bahraini authorities commented on this information.
Details of the attacks on American facilities
“This morning, fuel tanks, large equipment warehouses, storage facilities, as well as barracks of American military personnel at the Isa airbase in Bahrain were attacked by Arash kamikaze drones,” stated the army in a statement broadcast by state television. An AFP journalist in Bahrain reported an explosion and the sounding of air raid sirens on Friday, although it was not immediately possible to establish a link between these events. The US did not confirm any attacks on its facilities or personnel.
Later, Bahrain reported that it had intercepted and destroyed a “series of Iranian air attacks,” accusing Tehran of targeting civilian populations. The Iranian army also claimed drone strikes on territory in Jordan, targeting “aircraft hangars, aviation maintenance hangars, and barracks” at the Al-Azrak base. Meanwhile, Jordan did not report any strikes in the past few hours.
In a separate statement, the Iranian army reported launching drones at warehouses of American equipment at the Udairi camp, as well as at locations of American military personnel at the Doha and Arifjan camps in Kuwait. The IRGC, which is the ideological wing of Iran’s armed forces, stated that it had attacked the Ali Al-Salem airbase in Kuwait, claiming to have destroyed an ammunition depot and inflicted casualties on American personnel. It was also reported that strikes were carried out on equipment storage facilities at the Udairi camp and on an observation tower of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
Tehran states that any facility or base in the Middle East used by American military forces to strike Iran is considered a legitimate target for retaliatory strikes.
