The Labour Party, led by Andy Burnham, has surpassed Nigel Farage’s Reform UK in a new poll for the first time in over a year, reflecting increasing support for the ruling party of the new British Prime Minister.
If a general election were held tomorrow, 27% of respondents in the JL Partners poll indicated they would vote for Labour, while 25% would back Reform UK. This marks the first occasion that the Labour Party has outpaced Reform UK in JL Partners polls since March 2025, and it represents Labour’s strongest showing since November 2024, according to the research firm.
Initiatives of the new Prime Minister
Burnham is experiencing a surge in support following his replacement of Keir Starmer on July 20. He has unveiled a series of new initiatives, including a reduction in VAT on electricity bills, the establishment of a Prime Minister’s office in Manchester, and plans to allocate a portion of income tax revenues to regional mayors in England.
Burnham’s ascent to power has also coincided with heightened scrutiny of the finances of Nigel Farage and the Reform UK party.
