Trump declared ‘full control’ of the US over the Strait of Hormuz and threatened Iran

President Donald Trump stated that the US has “full control over the Strait of Hormuz,” amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran during negotiations over the waterway, which have reached a deadlock. “It is ours,” Trump told journalists at Joint Base Andrews near Washington on Tuesday evening. He added: “And at some point, maybe they will do something, and then they will be destroyed.”

Meanwhile, market attention will be focused on July consumer price data (CPI) in the US, as rising oil prices raise concerns that the Federal Reserve will be forced to raise interest rates. US Treasury bonds (Treasuries) have stabilized, and the yield on benchmark 10-year bonds has barely changed.
