Singapore is offering support of up to $70,000 per child to stimulate birth rates.
The number of births in Singapore has fallen to a historic low. Last year, fewer than 30,000 children were born in the country. The demographic decline is creating increasing pressure on the city-state, whose population is one of the oldest in the world, with a total fertility rate of just 0.87 children per woman.
To curb the further decline in birth rates, the Singapore government has launched a new program to support families with children.
