A horrific arson attack on four Jewish community ambulances in North London, accompanied by reports of explosions, is being investigated by police as an antisemitic hate crime.
According to POLITICO, the incident has sparked deep concern within the community and highlights the growing threat of antisemitism in the UK.
Law enforcement confirmed that the explosions were linked to gas cylinders found inside the ambulances, intensifying the severity of the attack.
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation on Monday, stating that the attack is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime.
Superintendent Sara Jackson of the Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers are searching for three suspects.
Aftermath and Public Reaction
This incident, as Superintendent Sara Jackson noted, “will cause great concern in the community”, and officers remain at the scene to conduct urgent investigations.
While no casualties were reported and the fires were extinguished, nearby homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure due to the risk of further explosions.
UK Labour Party leader Keir Starmer condemned the “deeply shocking antisemitic arson”.
The UK Prime Minister wrote on X that his thoughts were “with the Jewish community waking up this morning to this terrible news”, adding that antisemitism has no place in society.
