Conditions on the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln after 250 days at sea raise concerns

Conditions on the American aircraft carrier, which has been at sea for more than 250 days, are raising concerns. One of the U.S. senators is demanding explanations from the military leadership regarding the situation on board, which also increases pressure on the Trump administration over the war with Iran.

According to reports, U.S. military personnel on board the USS Abraham Lincoln are facing food shortages, plumbing problems, and other domestic difficulties. There have also been reports of suicide attempts among crew members. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Thursday called these reports “completely distorted”.

The aircraft carrier departed from San Diego in November to the South China Sea, and later it was directed to the Middle East on the eve of attacks on Iran in February. The date of the ship’s return has not yet been announced.

Senator demands explanations

Senator from Connecticut Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, on Thursday spoke about numerous reports of problems on board the aircraft carrier. These include shortages of basic supplies, water contamination, plumbing problems, deterioration of the mental state of military personnel, flight deck safety issues, and disruptions in the postal system.

According to Blumenthal, due to problems with the postal system, many packages with necessary items destined for the ship were lost in transit and not delivered for several months.
