Former UK Defense Minister Ben Wallace stated that the Israeli government declined to provide assistance to Ukraine in order to avoid jeopardizing its relations with Russia.
The former head of the UK’s defense department shared this in a post on X. According to Wallace, Israel’s decision not to support Ukraine ultimately backfired, as Russia continued to fund the production of Iranian weapons.
“I urged the government of Benjamin Netanyahu to help Ukraine. Israel refused, stating that it did not want to spoil relations with Russia. As a result, Russia continued to spend over 1 billion dollars on Iranian drones. Now ordinary Israelis have to face the consequences of Netanyahu’s decisions,” Wallace wrote.
Similar position and drone threat
A similar view was expressed by John Forman, a former UK defense attaché in Moscow and Kyiv. He mentioned that he personally presented similar arguments to the Israeli ambassador in Moscow, where Iranian operatives were planning attacks on embassy staff.
Kamikaze drones from “Hezbollah” have become the leading cause of death for Israeli military personnel in Lebanon, surpassing threats such as anti-tank missiles. Israeli officials acknowledge that these drones pose a significant security challenge for ground forces.
