Putin arrived in Novosibirsk: police every 50 meters, residents advised not to go outside

During the visit of Vladimir Putin to Novosibirsk, the city’s residents were advised not to go outside during the passage of the presidential motorcade, and police officers were stationed every 50 meters along his route. Movement restrictions were imposed in the city for the duration of the Russian president’s visit.

The restrictions applied to the route of Putin‘s passage and the campus of the local university. Putin began his visit to Novosibirsk on the night from Monday to Tuesday (from 10 to 11 August). On Monday evening, police officers began to be placed every 50 meters along his route, reported the publication «The Moscow Times».

Recommendations for residents and students

Residents of Novosibirsk were advised to refrain from going outside during the passage of the presidential motorcade, stay away from windows, and not use electronic and optical devices, reported the service «NieMoskwa». The restrictions also applied to students of Novosibirsk State University who remained in dormitories.

Students could not move freely around the campus. Barriers were set up around the buildings of the educational and scientific center, which usually appear there during rallies. The possibility of renting electric scooters was also restricted in a significant part of the academic town.

Fire in the city center

On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the center of Novosibirsk. According to preliminary data, one of the private houses caught fire. Firefighters, ambulance, and police arrived at the scene. The owner of the house was not injured. It is also known that the fire spread to neighboring buildings.

Before arriving in Novosibirsk, Putin had visited Kazan, Irkutsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Ulan-Ude in the last few weeks. Earlier, for several months, he had almost not traveled to regions far from Moscow. Recently, the media reported that Russia has strengthened security protocols for Vladimir Putin. According to media reports, the Russian president fears an assassination attempt. There were also reports that Putin is spending more and more time in underground bunkers.
