The Times: Infantino promised Morocco the 2030 World Cup final in exchange for support

The head of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino promised Morocco the final of the 2030 World Cup if the country’s football federation supports him. This was reported by the British publication The Times.

The 2030 World Cup will be jointly organized by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. Earlier this year, the head of the Spanish Football Federation Rafael Louzan stated that Spain would be the main organizer of the tournament, and the final would take place at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the capital Madrid.

Decline in Infantino’s popularity

Infantino’s popularity in the football world has declined after his proposal to sell shares in the commercial rights to FIFA championships to private investors, which he later abandoned.

Next year, Infantino will run for re-election during the FIFA Congress in Morocco. Several federations have already stated that they will not support the 56-year-old official.
