US President Donald Trump stated that he is close to making a decision on a possible large-scale strike against Iran.
In an interview with Axios, Trump reported that he is considering a strike that would be “bigger than ever before”. “I am close to making a decision. We are fully ready for this,” he said. According to Trump, the potential operation could exceed the scale of Operation “Epic Rage,” conducted earlier.
At the same time, Axios notes that Trump has previously made bold statements regarding Iran that ultimately were not carried out.
Possible involvement of Israel
The president also stated that Israel “will join in two minutes if I ask them to,” but added that “we don’t need anyone.” He warned that if Israel does participate in the operation, it will have “consequences.” According to Axios, this likely refers to a potential response from Iran involving strikes against Israel.
Conditions for a deal with Iran
Trump also stated that, in his opinion, Iran needs to face even more pressure before it will be ready to negotiate a deal. “They haven’t received enough pain yet,” he said.
