US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that negotiations with Iran were going “well”, while reiterating threats to strike the underground nuclear complex Pickaxe Mountain, as well as bridges and power plants, if a deal with Tehran is not reached.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump expressed a desire to avoid strikes on Iranian bridges and power plants if possible. “It’s a very, very delicate balance. So I think we have a very strong position right now. They know I will do it if they don’t make a deal,” Trump said during the program “Fox and Friends.” “We can’t let them break deals anymore,” he added, referring to Iran.
Meeting with Netanyahu and Iran’s nuclear program
Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House later on Tuesday. This meeting follows strikes by both countries against Iran in February.
Trump was also asked about reports that Netanyahu plans to discuss the work at the underground nuclear complex Pickaxe Mountain, which is associated with Iran’s nuclear program. The facility is located deep underground near one of the country’s main nuclear centers.
“I don’t need Bibi to tell me that. Bibi tells me that because he wants me to stay involved,” said the Republican president, referring to Netanyahu. “I know exactly what’s happening at Pickaxe Mountain. It’s not a big problem. We’ve already destroyed their nuclear facilities, and we’ll have to destroy Pickaxe Mountain if we don’t make a deal. If we don’t make a deal, we’ll destroy it very easily,” Trump emphasized.
