US President Donald Trump has once again threatened France with the imposition of 100-percent tariffs on French wine and champagne, demanding the cancellation of the three-percent digital tax on American technology companies. According to Trump, he directly conveyed this warning to French President Emmanuel Macron.

The US “would have no other choice” but to impose 100-percent tariffs if France does not abandon this tax. Trump insists that the cancellation of the three-percent tax is necessary to avoid sanctions on the American market.

Trump’s conditions for canceling the tax

In his interview with [NAME_1], Trump stated: “If they still do this, I will have no other choice but to introduce a 100-percent tariff on all champagne and all wines from France.”

He added: “All [Macron] needs to do is cancel the tax on turnover [meaning the digital tax], then he will not be under such pressure.”
