President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, August 28, stated that the United States handed over information to Kyiv about a number of meetings that took place in Moscow over the past few days.
“Today we received information from the American side about meetings in Moscow that took place these days. There was a series of meetings,” Zelensky reported in Telegram, without specifying who exactly participated in them.
He also thanked the American side “for the information and for the appropriate tone of conversation with Russia,” without providing additional details.
Reports about the visit of the CIA director
Earlier, on Wednesday, the publication The Wall Street Journal reported that the director of the CIA John Ratcliffe arrived in Moscow to warn Russia against a possible attack on a NATO member country.
The Kremlin denied this report, while former President of the United States Donald Trump stated that President of Russia Vladimir Putin will not attack a NATO member country, effectively downplaying the media reports about Ratcliffe’s trip.
Two sources told the agency Reuters that Ratcliffe during the meeting raised the issue of the possibility of Russia conducting an operation against a NATO member country. At the same time, it was unclear whether this topic was the main purpose of his trip. According to one of the Reuters sources, support for Iran by Russia was also discussed during the negotiations.
