Ukraine was unable to shoot down any Russian missiles during a night attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday called on allies to provide more anti-ballistic air defense systems after nighttime Russian strikes killed at least 17 people.
The Air Force, in its daily report released on Wednesday, stated that Ukraine failed to intercept any Russian missiles during the night attack. As a result, at least 17 people were killed in Kyiv and the surrounding region. The Russian army launched 115 drones and 28 high-speed missiles, including ballistic ones, the Air Force reported. This comes amid complaints from officials about a severe shortage of anti-ballistic munitions.
Statements by the President of Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in a social media post that “the main target of the attack was warehouses of civilian enterprises, and strikes also hit infrastructure and a railway station.” He added: “Anti-ballistic systems are what could have saved the lives of those who died today. It is very important for partners to realize that delays in their delivery or reluctance to transfer anti-ballistic means lead to such terrible casualties and destruction.”
