Trump supported the head of the Pentagon after reports of a dispute over ammunition shortages

President Donald Trump defended Pete Hegseth after reports of a dispute over the depletion of U.S. weapons stockpiles, which called into question the future of the Pentagon chief in the administration.

“I am extremely pleased with the work that Pete Hegseth is doing,” Trump said in a social media post on Thursday. He added that “everything has been extraordinary, including our attack on Venezuela, as well as in Iran, where the country was devastated.”

Washington Post report and Trump’s denial

Trump’s comments came after the Washington Post published a report on Wednesday stating that Trump had expressed disappointment with Hegseth during a Cabinet meeting last week, saying he had been misled about the ammunition shortages.

Trump denied this report, repeating that “defense companies are building the most plants and factories in the history of our country.”
