Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported the detention of a man who planned to kill a citizen of the USA. According to Tusk, this is the first such case where an attempt on an American citizen was prepared on the territory of another NATO country.
The man was detained on August 7. According to the head of government, he had two passports and was “inconvenient for Putin’s regime”. Thanks to the actions of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the police, the assassination attempt was prevented at the last moment.
Assassination attempt on NATO territory
Donald Tusk emphasized that this is “the first such situation where someone, on Russia’s orders, decides to carry out an assassination attempt on an American citizen on the territory of another NATO country, namely on the territory of Poland, on the territory of Warsaw”.
The Prime Minister noted that “we avoided the worst”. He added that Poland will have to proceed from the fact that Putin’s regime will try to “eliminate people who are inconvenient for various reasons”.
