The United States is facing an energy crisis because Ukraine is striking Russian energy facilities, creating global price pressure, Finance Minister Scott Bessent said, as reported by Clash Report.
Bessent noted that Iran receives some supplies from Russia, but if the United States shuts down Iranian airlines—as he expects the country will do—supply volumes will fall sharply. He added: “They are not actually receiving direct financial support from Russia.”

Bessent also said China buys Iranian oil, yet only about 30 million barrels remain at sea as reserves are being depleted.
He commented on the U.S. objective in Iran: “The goal here is not necessarily to cause the regime to fall. That could happen; perhaps the people will rise up. Some Iranian leaders are hardened military veterans. But generally, people prefer to keep their heads on their shoulders.”
Attacks on Russian facilities
As reported by UNIAN, today, September 2, a factory producing rocket engines caught fire in Russia’s Perm. The plant is a key enterprise in the country’s rocket, space and mechanical‑engineering sectors, manufacturing rocket engines and components for the aerospace and aviation industries.
It was also reported that drones attacked a strategic Russian port in the Leningrad region, a hub that handles significant volumes of oil, petroleum products, coal, fertilizers, liquefied gas and other cargo.
