Poland expects that Russia may attack border crossings with Ukraine amid Moscow’s strikes on trade routes, which Polish authorities say are intended to economically weaken Kyiv. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this on Thursday.
According to Donald Tusk, a threat to one of the Polish border crossings was averted last night thanks to cooperation between Polish services and their Ukrainian counterparts. He spoke at a press conference in Bratislava after drones struck a crossing on the Ukraine‑Moldova border located in Odesa Oblast on Wednesday, killing two people.
Warning about possible Russian provocations
“As you know, Russia has already resorted to provocative attacks on border crossings — for example, in Moldova. We expect similar actions aimed at border crossings with Ukraine in other countries, including Poland,” said Donald Tusk. Russia has not commented on these statements.
He has repeatedly warned that countries on the eastern flank of NATO must be prepared for potential provocations from Russia, which invaded Ukraine in 2022 and has been waging war against it ever since.
On Thursday, Donald Tusk also reported that he had received “a fairly precise report directly from the CIA regarding possible events in the coming months.” According to him, this information aligns with his own warnings issued over the past few months.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Poland and all of Europe must consider various scenarios and be prepared for them — not only regarding the situation on the Russian‑Ukrainian front but also along the eastern flank of the EU, reports Reuters.
