US inflation remained at 3.4% year-on-year in August, in line with market expectations and July’s figures.
Consumer price trends
Consumer prices rose by 0.4% month-on-month, also meeting market forecasts. The core consumer price index, which excludes energy and food, stood at 2.4% in August.
