A postal service in Austria mistakenly delivered eight human torsos to FACC, a supplier of aviation components in Upper Austria. Instead of the expected accessories and semi-finished products for production, employees found remains intended for medical research.

FACC had anticipated receiving semi-finished products made of fiber-matrix composite—pre-fabricated raw materials made of plastic. According to the police, the human torsos that arrived from the USA on the same plane as the technical parts for the corporation were intended for medical research. This was reported by several outlets, including the Austrian broadcaster ORF.

Investigation into the incident

Workers at FACC discovered the human remains after opening eight cooled packages. The police quickly clarified the circumstances of the incident, establishing that the packages had been mistakenly delivered due to a logistical error.

The human remains, which were supposed to be delivered to a laboratory in Germany for medical research, eventually reached their destination.
