US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday assured that the United States will not take any actions that could compromise the security of its allies in the Persian Gulf region amid ongoing relations with Iran.

Speaking to journalists in Kuwait before heading to Bahrain, Marco Rubio emphasized: “We will be fully consistent with our partners in the Persian Gulf.” He noted that this is precisely why he is making these visits.

Marco Rubio also stated: “We will not do anything that could harm the security of our allies, who are long-standing partners of the United States in the region.”

Openness to agreement and other options

The United States is open to a genuine agreement if Iran seeks to pursue one. If Iran does not demonstrate such intent, the US president will certainly have other options.

Negotiating technical groups will resume discussions at the end of the current month and are likely to return to Switzerland.
