Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is going on vacation again, this time with his wife Begonia Gomez as part of a private trip to Andorra. This comes just 48 hours after the meetings of the Council of Ministers and the National Security Council amid the crisis in Ceuta.
The government of Pedro Sanchez has finally decided to create a unified command to manage the crisis in Ceuta. The decision was taken 25 days after the mass influx of migrants from Morocco and after several weeks of statements that the necessary level of coordination had already been ensured. It seemed that Sanchez had finally returned to work, but, according to ABC, he almost immediately resumed his vacation.
New trip amid the Ceuta crisis
According to ABC, citing government sources, the prime minister has again left Moncloa Palace and headed to Andorra. He and his wife will stay in one of the most exclusive hotel complexes in Soldeu — the five‑star luxury hotel Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa. Preliminary information indicates the couple will remain there until next Sunday, August 30.
ABC recalls that in 2025, Sanchez and his wife had already booked an entire floor of this hotel in the Principality to accommodate security personnel and ensure greater privacy.
Ceuta crisis and Sanchez’s previous vacation
Despite the crisis in Ceuta, Pedro Sanchez does not consider his constant presence on site necessary. After the mass influx of migrants, the prime minister interrupted his stay at La Mareta Palace on Lanzarote for only a few hours on July 31.
That day he visited the Tarajal border post, made a statement to the press, and then returned to La Mareta to continue his vacation. Sanchez remained in Lanzarote until last Monday, August 24.
Regarding the new trip to Andorra, ABC notes that Sanchez has cleared his schedule until Monday.
