CIA Director John Ratcliffe is in Moscow on Tuesday for talks with Russian officials, according to two American officials.
This is Ratcliffe’s first trip to Moscow since taking office, and it marks the highest-level visit by a representative of the Trump administration to Russia since January.
Details of the Trip and Warning to Ukraine
Before Ratcliffe’s trip, the US informed Ukraine about sending a high‑ranking delegation to Moscow and asked Kyiv to suspend strikes until the US delegation leaves Russia, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Ratcliffe flew out of Washington on Sunday and headed to Latvia on a US government plane. On Tuesday, he traveled from Riga to Moscow on a US Air Force C-17 aircraft.
The CIA did not respond to multiple requests for comment on the trip. The visit by John Ratcliffe was first reported by CBS.
