Death toll from Nepal floods rises to 1,259, over 5,000 missing

The number of people killed by the devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 1,259, while another 5,083 are currently considered missing, according to Nepal’s disaster management agency, as cited by AFP.

The day before, the Nepalese state disaster management agency reported 1,204 dead and 4,216 missing. Thus, according to these figures, the number of missing has surged sharply.

Situation in Tibet

In neighboring Tibet, official data shows 21 people have died, while another 541 are currently considered missing. Some activists, as reported by AFP, accuse the Chinese government of underreporting the true number of victims of the tragedy.
