A scheduled phone call between German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and US President Donald Trump has been postponed by the German side. Government spokesperson Steffen Cornelius announced the decision during a press conference in Berlin.
Reason for the postponement remains unknown
The call was set to take place ahead of the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. When asked by reporters, Steffen Cornelius did not confirm that the decision to reschedule was linked to the US President’s comments regarding the AfD victory in the Saxony-Anhalt elections. However, the spokesperson clarified that the postponement was not due to scheduling conflicts.
