The highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto VI has finally received its price tag: the standard version will cost $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition will be priced at $99.99. Pre-orders will begin tonight at midnight local time, allowing players to reserve a copy for PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

Players will have the option to order both digital and physical editions of the game. The company Rockstar confirmed that even physical editions will include “a download code inside the box”. Physical copies will be shipped starting November 12, enabling buyers of both editions to pre-download the game ahead of its full release on November 19.

Pre-order bonuses and Ultimate Edition

Anyone who pre-orders or purchases the game before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack. This pack references GTA: Vice City from 2002 and includes a ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage, outfits and hairstyles, as well as a weapon skin. Digital pre-orders will also provide a free month of GTA Plus subscription from Rockstar.

The Ultimate Edition features digital extras that are unlocked during the game’s storyline. These include vehicles, weapons, outfits, tattoos, and exclusive in-game stores.

Expectations and market trends

Prior to today’s announcement, there was considerable speculation about the price of GTA VI. The gaming industry has seen a steady increase in prices over the past year, affecting both consoles and games. For instance, Nintendo has raised prices on some games for Switch 2 to $69 or even $79.

Grand Theft Auto VI has been eagerly awaited for over a decade since the release of GTA V, and its launch date has been postponed multiple times. It is expected to be the biggest game of the year, prompting other titles to schedule their releases to avoid competing with GTA VI.

Rockstar Games has gradually revealed details about Grand Theft Auto VI over the past year, with the latest update being the unveiling of the official cover. The initial trailers introduced the game’s main characters, Jason and Lucia, along with glimpses of the main storyline, which will take place in Vice City.
