Kim Kardashian awarded €1 in damages from ‘grandpa robbers’ 10 years after Paris heist

A court has awarded Kim Kardashian €1 in damages for the armed robbery she suffered in October 2016 at a Paris hotel during Fashion Week. This was the exact symbolic amount she had requested. The ruling was issued on Tuesday, September 15.

During the heist, a group of assailants known as the “grandpa robbers” broke into Kim Kardashian’s hotel room and stole jewelry worth approximately €9 million. At the civil hearings in May 2026, Kim Kardashian’s lawyer, Léonor Henneryck, requested a symbolic €1 from each of the four group members, including the alleged ringleader Aomar Ait Khedache, who is now in his 70s. One of the assailants, Didier Dubreucq, died a few weeks after his sentencing in May 2025.

Court awards compensation to victims

The French court granted Kim Kardashian’s request. In a statement provided to the Associated Press, she noted: “This experience was deeply traumatic, and its effects are still felt today. Today’s decision is not about compensation, but about responsibility and recognition.”

In a statement prepared on behalf of Kim Kardashian and her stylist Simone Harouche, who was present during the robbery, they also expressed gratitude to the court and everyone who supported them throughout the legal process. “We hope to turn the page now and continue our recovery,” the statement read.

The hotel concierge, who was a doctoral student working night shifts to fund his studies at the time of the robbery, also sought compensation. Because the trauma prevented him from completing his dissertation and pursuing his chosen profession, his lawyer told the AP that the court awarded him €109,516 in damages, far less than the €550,000 he had requested.
