Mick Jagger at 83: Running 12km a day, dancing, and a high-calorie diet

British musician Mick Jagger, at the age of 83, maintains his physical fitness through a rigorous training regimen and a carefully planned diet. The artist detailed his habits in an interview with Q Magazine, describing the routine that helps him endure international tours and long concerts.

The foundation of his routine is high physical activity: “I train five or six days a week, but I don’t go crazy. I alternate between the gym and dancing, then I do sprints and things like that. I train to build stamina.” A key part of his morning workout is cardio: Mick Jagger covers up to 12 kilometers a day, either outdoors or on a treadmill. If the weather or his schedule prevents running, he replaces it with an hour of swimming, kickboxing, or cycling.

How Mick Jagger stays in shape

To improve flexibility, body control, and injury prevention, the musician practices ballet, yoga, and Pilates. For many years, his training was managed by Norwegian specialist Torje Eike, who has experience working with Olympic athletes and national football teams. Under his supervision, workouts lasting from two to three hours focused on developing the aerobic endurance required for live performances.

In his diet, Mick Jagger favors organic products, fruits, vegetables, legumes, rice, and whole-grain pasta. His primary sources of protein are chicken and fish, while he consciously excludes red meat and processed foods. Up and Down with the Rolling Stones author Isadora Puiggené notes that the musician eats an avocado almost every day.

The artist himself emphasizes the need for high caloric intake to compensate for his physical exertion: “I have to eat a lot. People tell me, ‘You don’t eat,’ but I eat a lot. I tell them, ‘I just ate twice as much as you.'”

Jagger also believes it is important to stay active before shows rather than relaxing too much. As he told The Sun, waking up early helps him keep his body active before work. The combination of regular training, flexibility work, and a thoughtful diet helps the musician maintain the physical fitness necessary for performing with the Rolling Stones.
