Over 48,300 migrants who arrived en masse in the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta have returned to Morocco as of 18:00 local time, according to sources in the Spanish Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In total, approximately 50,000 migrants arrived in Ceuta starting the morning of the previous day. Earlier, the Ceuta government estimated the number of illegal arrivals at around 60,000 people.
Local authorities stated that this is the largest migration crisis ever recorded on Spanish territory.
