Trump administration asked military to propose ‘creative’ ways to pressure Iran

The U.S. military is exploring “creative” and “unconventional” methods to intensify pressure on Iran after prior measures, including U.S. airstrikes, failed to alter the situation. According to CNN, an officer from the U.S. Central Command has requested military analysts to suggest new options for action.

On Wednesday, an intelligence officer from the U.S. Central Command sent an email to military analysts asking for “new creative and unconventional ways to pressure” Iran, CNN reported. Such requests are unusual and may signal a search for additional options as the conflict with Iran has persisted for six months.

Limited capabilities and consequences of the conflict

According to the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency, further bombings are unlikely to shift Iran’s negotiating stance. The report notes that the administration of Donald Trump is in a challenging position, as previous military actions have not produced the desired outcomes.

The report also highlights that U.S. missile stocks have diminished, dozens of civilians have died as a result of the hostilities, and the global economy, particularly gas prices, has suffered. The author suggests that the Trump administration is seeking solutions to the situation.
