Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will run again in the next election, expected in April 2028. A senior advisor to the Turkish leader announced this on Thursday.
Conditions for early elections
Erdoğan’s advisor Mohamed Odjum, as quoted by the NTV television channel and the Cumhuriyet newspaper, stated that the election could take place on April 16, 2028, if the decision to hold a snap vote is supported by 360 members of parliament.
Under Turkish law, if early elections are not called, the vote must take place in May 2028.
