A U.S. military transport aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport on Tuesday, according to data from Flightradar24.
A large Boeing Globemaster with the American tail number 07-7181 arrived in Moscow directly from Riga. Reuters was unable to determine whether the aircraft carried cargo or passengers. The Kremlin stated that it had no information about this aircraft.
According to Flightradar24, on August 23, the aircraft arrived in Riga from Andrews Air Force Base near Washington.
Previous negotiations and pause
The last direct flight of a U.S.-registered aircraft from Europe to Russia took place in January. At that time, the aircraft transported special envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner for peace negotiations on Ukraine with Vladimir Putin.
Last week, the Kremlin stated that it currently has no information about a possible new visit by Kushner and Witkoff to Moscow. Negotiations between the U.S. and Russia regarding Ukraine have largely stalled against the backdrop of the war.
