President Donald Trump stated that he will direct the funds of his political campaign to support Republican candidates in the midterm elections in November.
When asked if he plans to use the money from his political committee MAGA Inc., Trump replied: “Sure, I will do it.” In an interview with Punchbowl News, published on Friday, he added: “I can spend them on almost anything I want,” and also: “I will help the Republicans.”
Financial plans and concerns of allies
As of last week, Trump had not yet approved a plan to spend the 401 million dollars he raised from political donors, as reported by Bloomberg. This has caused concern among his associates that the money may remain unspent, as there are less than 100 days left until the November 3 vote.
Trump does not need to rush to spend these funds. He can rely on the Republican National Committee and other major party donors, including billionaires Elon Musk and Ken Griffin, to finance competitive election races and voter mobilization campaigns this fall.
Campaign finance laws allow his super PAC (political action committee) to keep these funds to support a presidential candidate in 2028, finance his presidential library after his term ends, or transfer them to other non-profit organizations.
Significant financial advantage of the Republican Party
At the national level, Republicans have a significant financial advantage over Democrats this year. Together with Trump’s super PAC funds, they have accumulated about 1.1 billion dollars, distributed among various political structures.
This is approximately three times more than the 355 million dollars raised by Democrats.
